and then there was one

The world cup is over.

fans would just have to endure a cruel month without soccer. Until the EPL starts again that is.

italy won the cup. Dont have much to say about them, as i never watched them until the finals, and partially because, through habit, italy shall always be the defensive boring sides of before.

But they were much better this time. Beating an inspired france team 1-1, 5-3 in penalties. France was good, especially henry, who was bursting into the penalty box like the defence sucks. Though it was not true though. Very good.

But actually i didnt support france; i supported spain. Spain was such a great team in the group stages, but fizzled out in the end. It reached its peak too early and thus died. Ironically, france was just peaking out at that time.

They met brazil in the quarter finals, whom they beat 1-0. brazil might have been a little sluggish but hey, take what you get, beggers arent choosers. italy were not looking good at that time, having to resort to a last minute penalty, and two extra time strikes to overcome australia and germany respectively. However, they didnt concede a single goal except that own goal by one of their defenders.
