first class hike. this year's easier than last year's maybe because got more people and i'm not with jeremy... lol, i think they gave jeremy the longer route last year, like how they give kk this year... you see their route... wadebomb
lets talk about hiking in singapore. first thing is you dun really need a compass. finished day 2 okay without a compass. so there, zhi! all the roads and stuff... but then i want my compass back >.<
started at pasir ris mrt. bad start, turns out me and rong jun forgot thumbsticks. for our whole patrol of 4. damn ironic, on the way there francis was like sms-ing me if i had extra thumbsticks and i told him we'll see when we get there. jacked... anyway inspection in the field, i think tankor (us) were quite prepared =D ended up being the first patrol to finish even though a few items were missing and lu chen was zen minimalist with his packlist... he only brought like 10 items. so after zhi gave us the MRNs we quickly started.
whole day is kinda a blur. during the hike its like everything seems so long and dragged out but then afterwards you only remember the stupid parts, never the boring part... maybe thats why i keep getting suckered into these hikes... anyway luchen, sherman, rong jun and me were quite fit, kept a good pace, even though- shh better not say... we haven't passed yet... j1s watching >>
had lunch at Hougang CC... same one as last time GTC's, the one where we had free milo and apple =D. we had both too this time, so quite moralising. about this time it started drizzling a bit, but when we left it wasn't like that... about half an hour later the sky opened up and became thunderstorm zzz
luckily near my house so i just pushed everyone on =D shoes are frigging soaked.
oh yeah and we kept forgetting to take checkpoint pictures... after we walked about 10 minutes from the checkpoint one of us would go 'oh shit! never take picture!' and then we'll have to go back and take it. waste a lot of time leh. a few times we also had to backtrack and wander aimlessly, i guess other than that we would have been patrol no. 1 at the end point much earlier.
yes, i know patrol no. 1 is nothing... all different routes with different lengths... but then yeah its still a nice feeling =D
at night... i slept most of the time... its a tough day. and must set good example =D
next day left early, at 6.30. finished at 12am, quite pleased. thanks to hiok for sending encouragement when we finished XD had debrief, ate at KFC (yay kfc) and then went home. dozed off on the bus and ended up overshooting two stops... ah my poor feet.
