VLC (hoo hah)

VLC (hoo hah) is over!

truthfully speaking it wasn't much of a camp, more like a lecture marathon. lectures in a small room, sitting on the floor for long long periods of time, short breaks for meals and toilet breaks, and a pretty short night sleeping. we slept at 4am (wth)... haha dun think any other camp would ever enforce that kind of nights off timing... we slept so late because of a 'night walk' and a movie we were forced to watch, about scouts in malaysia haha.

but the instructors were fun! especially justin and ruhan, who spammed random jokes into every sentence. haha justin was especially random, he went through slides like joel goes through tissue paper XD. so, the camp wasn't that boring, and i had quite some fun too, like when playing the flasherbanger game (was backstabbed and backstabbed back).

i was in Exco 4 (zebra!). the other excos had gl names like wildcats (from highschoolmusical), nitrogen (N2 = enthu XD), marlot, hi-5 and sixers. why zebra? because our group had one indian scout (chandan) and somehow we linked to black white thing haha. later on, chandan switched to another exco, so the 'zebra' didnt really apply anymore... more like white horse haha. it was great working with them, actually most of them were older than me! oh no...

back row: john, samuel, me, kenneth, chek siong, jon tan, ivan, zack
front row: aetiiqcaz, rong jun, terry and syahidah

most of us passed the course, and after the camp ended we went to shake hands and swap email addresses. i guess like what they said, scouts, especially venture scouts, in singapore aren't many, so its good to network and stuff. after that, went for dinner with 01-06 and went home.

hmm takeaways... the lectures were quite interesting, and i think i did learn more about project planning. but i think the biggest takeaway was interacting with people from other scout groups, learning about their ways and going through this course together. also, i had a better time than most of the others, because i volunteered early on (didnt know what it was about), and after helping out with the bag unpacking, they started calling the 6 of us 'the 6-pack' and we got to sleep in the nicer bunks below. thanks, i guess XD

for myself, if i had to put myself in one of those leadership groups i would be democratic-autocratic. i think i'm quite good at delegating work and getting things done, but i can be very stubborn haha. also, need to lighten up a bit, even if it is a pass-fail course.

right, one more camp to go before end of june hols (:
