podium rush

Caught a slice of YOG history yesterday morning, down at East Coast Park! We watched the final laps of the women triathlon race, and saw the first YOG medals being given out. The spectators were nice, applauded every single athlete from Vanuatu to Zimbabwe and yes, the Singaporean who finished the race last, but received the loudest roar. The winner was a Japanese, Yuka Sato.

the top 3 athletes

Haha all of them don't look 17-18!

And yet in a way, all of them are just like us.

Youth Olympic Games, it's a good thing. Peel away the surface apathy of Singaporeans and the forced optimism of the organising committee and you'll see a noble idea with all the right intentions. And Singapore, we'll do great.
